Dog Bites

Dogs and Their Teeth

I recently found a blog site I found interesting. It was all about what to do if a dog bites you. And while I would assume that scream and run away were givens, the other information on the site was really quite helpful.

Tips on this site include everything from seeking medical help to talking to potential witnesses. And while these things might seem like common knowledge to you, how about this tip: get the owner’s insurance information.

Did you know that insurance should cover the cost of a dog bite injury? Some insurances do, and its up to the owner to pay the rest since they are liable for the incident. If all else fails, however, you will likely have to file a lawsuit to get recompense for your losses.

If you want to check out this site, I’ll put a link here for you. And if you have been the victim of a dog bite recently, I highly suggest you look this information over.

Dog Bite Law

My daughter was bitten by a dog when she was just a little girl. So I’m an advocate for the victim’s legal rights, especially when it comes to small children. Luckily for me, I live in the state of California where dog bites are taken very seriously.

When in this state, all the victim needs to do is to prove the dog bit them and prove which dog it was that did the biting. Sometimes this is difficult, if the dog is a stray or was roaming about a long way from home. However, if the dog was in someone’s yard or if the dog was a neighborhood dog that is easily recognizable, then proving the case is easy enough.

For my daughter’s case, we were actually able to take an imprint of the dog’s teeth to match to my daughter’s scars. It worked wonders for the case and proven exactly which dog that it was, the dog we said it was in the first place.

Dog Bite Reports

Dog bites are one of the few types of personal injury normally not reported on the news until something truly disturbing happens, and in this case it happened to a pregnant woman. Just last Saturday, October 9, a pregnant woman was knocked down onto the pavement and bitten by two pit bulls. She is currently in her 8th month of pregnancy.

While several stitches were required and the woman was put through quite a trauma, reports say that she is doing well and that the baby wasn’t harmed. However, reports also say that there is no word yet about the dogs: whether Animal Control put them down or if the owners are facing any charges.

Here is a little known piece of information: those dog owners are personally responsible for the injuries this woman suffered. No matter the situation, dog owners are always responsible for the behavior of their pets, whether incidents happen on a public sidewalk or in the owner’s backyard. Many personal injury attorneys work almost exclusively with dog bite victims, using the personal injury laws to fight for their rights.

So if you have been involved in a dog bite incident like the woman mentioned above, don’t wait. Contact an Orange County dog bite attorney today and get the compensation you deserve.
